To the Voters of the Washington state 15th Legislative District -
Dear Chad,
Want to take the next step as a Party activist?
Today is the first day of filing week in Washington State. Between now and Friday, June 11th, you have the rare opportunity to stand for election as a Democratic Precinct Committee Officer (PCO).
PCOs are elected officials of the Democratic Party. They are the Democratic representative for their precinct. A precinct can be as small as a section of a neighborhood or as large as a historical "township," but precincts usually contain 200 to 800 registered voters.

What is the difference between the Top Two primary, and the primaries we have always conducted in Washington?
A primary election can serve either one of two roles: either to winnow down the number of candidates who will appear on the general ballot; or to nominate the candidate for a political party.
In a non-partisan election, such as city council races in Washington, the primary takes a field of candidates running for a given office and winnows down (reduces) that field to two.
Washington State Democratic Party Chair Dwight Pelz blasted Attorney General Rob McKenna for threatening to sue to stop the implementation of National Health Insurance Reform, adopted last night by Congress.

State Democratic Party Lauds Health Care Reform
The most critical piece of domestic legislation since Medicare
SEATTLE – The Washington State Democratic Party today congratulated Congress for passing “the most critical piece of domestic legislation since Medicare.”
Do you watch TV? Sure you do.
Maybe not a lot of TV, but if you watch any primetime news coverage this week, you'll see political ads asking viewers to call Congressman Adam Smith.
Congressman Smith is one of our Democratic votes for Health Care Reform - the National Chamber of Congress is trying to change that!
Estimado Demócrata,
Cada dos años, el Estado de Washington, los Demócratas asambleas de acogida y convenciones. Quiero invitarlos a participar en estos eventos, que desempeñan un papel importante en la definición y construcción del Partido Demócrata.
This is a message from US Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) that we thought some people in Washington would agree with. If you do, please sign his petition!
The American people are sick of process blocking progress. They're fed up with an arbitrary tradition that allows a minority of Senators to prevent popular, much-needed legislation from even coming to a vote.
Frankly, so am I.
The Washington State Democrats held a PCO/Party Activist Training in Lacey, WA, just prior to our annual Crab Feed. Training materials from this event are now available on our Ning Site!
If you are already a member of the Ning Site, you can find the materials in the forum, or by clicking this link. If you are not a member and want to be, please send an e-mail to Party Affairs Coordinator Greg Haffner at gregh@wa-democrats.org.
