Subject: HB2165/SB5979
On March 25th at 8:00am the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Ocean & Recreation will have a public hearing on HB 2165. This is the companion bill to SB 5979 (which is dead) and authorizes the department of natural resources to conduct a biomass energy demonstration project.
It is very important the members of the ARC and members of our timber and agriculture communities voice their support for HB 2165. The potential new revenue stream is substantial as is the enhancement to air and water quality.
As the technology for biomass energy evolves we will be able to have more more net producers of renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. Existing conversion of carbon-based materials will also improve as projects like the the one envisioned by HB 2165 create a push-pull effect.
Please email Senator Ken Jacobson at jacobson.ken@leg.wa.gov, call 360.786.7690 or fax your comments to 360.786.1446 and Representative Van De Wege today at vandewege.kevin@leg.wa.gov, or call his office at 360.786.7916. Also consider contacting Representative Timm Ormsby at ormsby.timm@leg.wa.gov, his office number is 360.786.7946.
Thank you,
Dan Lambert, ARC
