From WSDCC Chair Dwight Pelz:
Robert Kuttner has written a piece for The American Prospect praising Maria Cantwell's work on legislation that would effectively regulate Wall Street. She is fighting to secure fundamental reforms of the financial system, including regulation of credit-default swaps and derivatives.

Subject: [Hcan] Baird a NO vote - URGENT response needed
We JUST heard: Congressman Baird is a current NO vote on the house health care bill. See statement from him below.
We need to move quickly on this. Despite rumors that the vote may be delayed until Monday, we need to make sure Baird knows right away that this is a bad move.
Please:
1. Get your organizational leaders to call Rep. Baird - (202) 225-3536 DC, (360) 695-6292 Vancouver, (360) 352-9768 Olympia
This hit my inbox today:
Hi all,
Today I dropped off at Sen. Murray's and Sen. Cantwell's offices some of the petitions from the King Co. Democrats. In Sen. Cantwell's office was a handout, dated July 9, 2009, indicating her current position on the public option. I've attached it.
Members of the ARC and interested individuals can go to www.recovery.wa.gov and click on the county-by-county map to view funds allocated through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The three boxes at the left on the home page, bordered by green, lists specific projects and/or descriptions.
I am disgusted that the media has done so little to explain and comment on the benchmark which is said to be the bill to ensure fair distribution of oil revenues among the competing factions of Iraq, but really is about making sure that Western oil corporations control the developement of 70% of Iraq's oil reserves.
The developement would be controlled by 30 year developement contracts which would not require that Iraqi drilling companies to be used and would only return 15% of the proceeds to the Iraq national Oil company.
Thanks to Noemie Maxwell from the 47th, we now know some details about the efforts by the Washington State Secretary of State's office to "clean up" the voter rolls. Credit also needs to go to Susan Sheary, Mark Boswell, Bob Nelson, and Bryan Kesterson.
One of the items that we will be voting on in November is EHJR 4204, which is a Constitutional Amendment saying that a simple majority of voters is required to pass a school levy.
Suzie Sheary has provided us with an electronic copy of the endorsement form that people can use to express their support and spread the word. If your county or district has endorsed this measure, feel free to use it and pass it out to your membership.
Hearing about some problems, so I need to test the blog feature.
Thanks, Chad, for putting up this site.
I am having some tech problems, though. When I type, the text beneath, that says "Allow HTML..." jumps and the flashes and what I am typing disappears until the end of each key stroke???
